Shawn Ravold, Project Manager (Systems Innovation), St. Michael's Incorporated

Shawn Rabold, CFA, is a native of Pensacola, Florida and a lifelong learner and leader. Born and raised in Pensacola, FL, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management in 2009, with a minor in Psychology. He also completed the US Army’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) program and commissioned into the US Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Field Artillery. After commissioning, he attended the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leaders Course at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, then proceeded to Ft. Wainwright, Alaska for a 3 year tour. While at Ft. Wainwright, he completed a 1 year deployment to Afghanistan as a Platoon Leader and Fire Direction Officer. Upon promotion to Captain, Shawn transferred to the Finance Corps and attended the US Army Captains’ Career Course at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, where he was the Distinguished Honor Graduate and Major General Nathan Towson Medallion recipient. During this 6 month course, he also completed additional studies and passed examinations in various Army Financial Management processes, the pinnacle of these being the Certified Defense Financial Management (CDFM) examinations. After this course, Shawn deployed to Djibouti in December 2013 for an 18-month deployment as the Deputy Director of Resource Management at the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa, where he supported a multinational and multi-departmental force of nearly 4000 personnel with $2 billion dollars in funding and a highly complex systems architecture.

Upon returning from Africa in 2015, Shawn began his transition to civilian life. He departed the Army in February 2016 with an Honorable Discharge and used his GI Bill to attend the Business Institute of Norway for his Master’s in Financial Economics, a 2-year research program. 2015 also marked when Shawn began the long and challenging road to becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the most respected and recognized investment designation in the world as it demonstrates superior competency in advanced portfolio management, financial expertise, and technical skills, underpinned by ethical conduct and the highest standards of practice, by passing the Level 1 exam in December 2015. December 2018 marked the award of his Master’s degree and transition to private industry, becoming the Business Controller for Lantmannen Unibake Norway in November 2019, where he made an instant impact as the local expert in PowerBI, Dynamics, SQL, financial modeling, and industrial control systems. This resulted in numerous key dashboards, learning initiatives, and data products that helped reduce cost variances, ensure proper due diligence of acquisitions, and provide more accurate forecasts of commodities during the most unpredictable period of COVID. He returned home in January 2021, however, to assist his family in Pensacola due to COVID related difficulties.

May of 2021 marks Shawn’s return to public service, but from the outside as a Federal contractor. He joined EBI Management Group in Pensacola, FL as a Senior Financial Analyst, driving change and implementing low-cost, tailored, and intuitive data warehouses for the Federal Transit Administration, Defense Healthcare Management Systems, Defense Information Systems Agency, and EBI’s Business Development division. He also started EBI’s Internal Development Center of Excellence, a knowledge sharing and teaching program that facilitated 360 degree learning between various level of experience and multiple functional areas, such as SQL, Python development, fiscal law, economics, statistics, and more. After 9 years of studying, March 2024 marked the completion of the CFA Program and award of the prestigious CFA Charter.

In December of 2024, Shawn parted ways with EBI to join St. Michael’s Inc., one of the Department of Defense’s most reputable financial and program management contractors and a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), for an incredible opportunity to lead systems innovation for a Federal client. He is also part of St. Michael’s Center of Excellence for Analytics and AI, as one of the founders, key instructors, and training coordinators.

In his free time, Shawn focuses on gardening, home improvement projects, and his dog, along with continuous education and reading. Academically, he focuses on economic analysis and data management to help build and understand data valuation systems and processes for clients.
