Victor Adewusi, Chief Data Officer, Equity Bank (Kenya) Limited
Victor holds an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, Nigeria, a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Engineering from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria, and a certificate in Advanced Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence from Kellogg School of Management, USA, several IT Professional Certifications and recently a certification in Data Monetization Strategy from MIT Sloan. He is a member of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals South Africa (IITPSA) and has attended various Executive Leadership courses on Strategy, Governance, and Digital Transformation. As the Chief Data Officer at Equity Bank, he has worked on multiple data monetisation use cases that delivered over 100Mn USD in revenues.
He has almost two decades of experience across the Telecoms, IT, and Banking sectors. He has expertise in Finance, Governance, Risk Management, and Advanced Data Analytics, cutting across West, East, and Southern Africa. His focus is to help organisations extract untapped value from data assets to drive business strategies, meet evolving customer needs and generate new income streams. Before joining Equity Bank, he was the Head of Business Intelligence and Data Science for the Personal and Business Banking, Africa Regions at Standard Bank, South Africa. He was responsible for enabling 14 countries (West Africa, East Africa, and Southern Africa) to leverage data analytics to deliver their business goals. In addition, Victor was the pioneer Chief Data Officer for Standard Bank, Nigeria, where he championed many large-scale transformation programmes on core banking applications, data governance, big data analytics, digital lending, risk management, and finance.
